Jack-o'-lantern hunt!

For the safety of everyone, this year's trick or treating is not likely to happen. So for those of you who are stuck with what to do with your youngsters for Halloween, how about a game at home? I had this idea when looking at the Jack-o'-lantern and had some spare citrus fruits lying around.

Jack-o'-lanterns

I drew on Jack-o'-lantern faces on a couple of oranges and easy peelers. Using these, I hid them around my home and got my daughter to go hunt for them. It's bascially, like an Easter egg hunt. The fruit can be eaten or used as tokens to swap them for sweets.

I hid them in plain sight and inside things. You can give them clues with the "hot" and "cold" clues, or if you're feeling very creative you could make a spooky treasure map. She loved the game so much she kept asking me to hide them again and again. We did seven rounds before we could persuade her to play again the following day.

Happy hunting, this Halloween!
